SERVICES - Friendship Hose Company No. 1, Inc.
The Friendship Hose Company No. 1, Inc is located at 15 East Big Spring Avenue. The all-volunteer company provides fire and EMS (Emergency Medical Services) to the Borough of Newville and several surrounding municipalities.
The fire company operates the following first line apparatus: 1998 Ferrar Pumper/Tanker, 1995 E-One Squad, 1981 Mack Pumper, 2005 Ford F550 Mini Pumper, 1997 Chevrolet 4WD Utility and 1982 Dodge Power Wagon Brush Truck. In addition to the fire apparatus, the company also operates two basic life support units: a 1999 Ford Ambulance and a 2004 Ford Ambulance. The company is presently in the process of acquiring a new combination rescue/pumper to replace the 1981 Mack Pumper. Residents and visitors are invited to tour the fire company's museum located within the firehouse where fire company memorabilia, equipment and photographs are on display.

One of the fire company's primary fundraising endeavors is their weekly Bingo which is held every Saturday night beginning at 5 PM. Contact Bingo Chairman Rick Griffie at 776-6451 for more details. Residents of the borough are urged to support the annual fire company fund drive as well. The fund drive is conducted every spring.
